NBA odds, picks, best bets Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies host the Philadelphia 76ers for the second night of a home series.

Like last year, Memphis has already battled a number of injuries, with Jay Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, GG Jackson, Vince Williams Jr. and Luke Kennard all sidelined for some time.

Now, Zach Eady is out after spraining his ankle on Sunday night, and Williams will also be out after suffering an ankle injury on Tuesday night.

Despite an injury-plagued start to this season, the Grizzlies have found a way to get above .500. Can they keep it up against the struggling Sixers?

76ers vs. Grizzlies predictions

If you expected the 76ers to start the season 2-11 despite signing Paul George, you're either crazy or you've read Biff's yearbook from Back to the Future 2. Either you have it or you have it.

The Sixers are in free fall. They have lost nine of their last 10 games, tied with Washington for the worst record in the Eastern Conference and NBA.

So far in the 2024-25 season, the Sixers have the third-worst net rating and lowest effective field goal percentage in the NBA.

Additionally, former MVP Joel Embiid has only appeared in three of the team's games.

Even when he was available, Embiid was a shell of himself, averaging just 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting an incredibly poor 32.4% from the floor and 15.4% from 3-point range. Ta.

Conversely, the Grizzlies have had some success, with the exception of Tuesday night, despite struggling to keep players healthy.

After an embarrassing loss at home to the Nets on Oct. 30, Memphis had secured four straight double-digit home wins before Tuesday's game against Denver.

In those four straight games, Memphis had the second-highest net rating (+18.5) and the highest rebounding percentage. They also ranked first in points in the paint and second in opponent second-chance points.

76ers vs. Grizzlies picks

I can't believe I'm saying this, but despite the rough start, this could be a great bounce-back spot for the Sixers.

Philadelphia may have Maxey back in the lineup, uniting him, Embiid and George for the first time all season.

Memphis will play the second night of the back-to-back, but Eadie will likely not be there to protect Embiid. That means if head coach Taylor Jenkins sticks with smaller players, Brandon Clark (6-foot-8) will have to take on that role. -Ball lineup.

Additionally, Memphis has been hit and miss on the offensive end of the floor, and any issues with improving cohesion could be related to the various injuries they've already dealt with.

Unfortunately, things became even more unstable after they lost Williams again.

We'll have to wait and see if Maxey is available, but if he plays, the Sixers could leave Memphis with a win.
