UFC fighter David Onama found himself caught in the middle of the ongoing controversy surrounding country star Zach Bryan after being called out by Onama after his win at UFC 309, and he spoke on his podcast this week. He said he was asked to name the “Pink Skies” singer.
Bryan has been in the headlines for his breakup with Barstool Sports personality Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, who claimed that Bryan was emotionally abusive towards her during their relationship. Ta.
LaPaglia was in attendance at UFC 309 and SiriusXM's “Fight Nation” PodcastOnama was asked if he was a fan of Bryan during his post-match interview with Joe Rogan, as he seemed to shout him out of nowhere.
“Honestly, I didn't know who Zach Bryan was,” Onama said after Bryan told Onama that someone had contacted his management. He said he explained.
The host described it as a “promotion” for Brian, and Onama agreed.
“It was very literal,” Onama added.

In his statement on X, Onama attempted to clarify his comments about the podcast.
“I feel like this is getting out of proportion,” he wrote. “The promoter offered to give me comp tickets to a Zach Bryan concert if I promoted an upcoming stadium show. His teammates love Zach and he plays in Denver. I did it because Zach always looked out for his teammates.
“Zach never contacted me about this. He was just supporting the people who have always supported my team.”
The comment that sparked the controversy was when Onama told Logan that he would be returning to meet Byran next month.
The country singer is scheduled to perform two shows at Barclays Center.
In a video that cited Onama's comments on the podcast, Portnoy called Brian a “pathetic little man.”
LaPaglia has revealed increasing details about the emotional abuse she allegedly suffered from Bryan during their relationship, which lasted just over a year.
In one of the more disturbing examples she revealed, Ms. LaPaglia detailed that during her birthday, Mr. Brian allegedly yelled at his friends in a derogatory manner and broke a glass.
“He stood by the fire and started shouting at my friends, 'You're nothing, you're a loser,' just like the scariest man ever.” You'll never be successful if you rely on that for a living,” she said.
