76ers’ Paul George suffers left knee hyperextension

The 76ers are probably holding their breath for one of their biggest stars.

The 76ers announced that Paul George suffered a hyperextension of his left knee in the third quarter of Wednesday's 117-111 loss to the Grizzlies.

He was ruled out for the remainder of the match.

George injured his knee while trying to get a rebound in the third quarter, limping off and corralling the ball with his hands.

The concern for George is that he hyperextended the same knee during the preseason, which caused him to miss the first five games of the regular season.

When on the court this year, the 34-year-old George is averaging 16.7 points per game, which is a significant drop-off compared to the 20.7 points per night he averaged the rest of his career.

Before getting injured in Wednesday's loss, he had just two points and four rebounds in 17 minutes.

It's been a disastrous start to the year for the 76ers, who are now 2-12 after losing to Memphis, but this was the first game George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have played together this season. Ta.

Good thing for Philadelphia, Joel Embiid recorded a double-double (35 points, 11 rebounds) in just his fourth game of the season.
