President-elect Trump's next border czar, Tom Homan, spoke Wednesday night about the heartbreaking evidence of Laken Riley's final moments and the desperate attempts to resuscitate her after she was brutally murdered by a Venezuelan illegal immigrant earlier this year. He was visibly emotional as he spoke.
“This young woman died, and I want every mayor and every governor on the reservation to listen to that tape,” the usually hard-boiled career cop and federal employee told Fox News' “The Ingraham.” He spoke on “Angle''.
“Hear this young girl fight for her life, hold her breath, fear and try to survive. I want you to understand what she went through.”
He called out the mayors and governors of sanctuary jurisdictions who are committed to protecting undocumented immigrants like Jose Ybarra, who was convicted Wednesday of Laken's brutal murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. denounced.
“It could have been prevented,” Homan said.
He added, “Shame on the governors and mayors who say they're going to stop Tom Homan or stop President Trump!”
The heartbreaking video showed Sgt. Kenneth Maxwell of the University of Georgia Police Department found Riley's motionless body, his shirt pulled up and his torso exposed, 50 feet from a running track near campus.
“We found her! Ma'am, ma'am. Ma'am. We need EMS right away. Ma'am, ma'am, ma'am. She's down and not breathing!” Maxwell is heard saying in the video. can be heard.
“There's no pulse. She's stiff,” a police officer can be heard saying on the tape as they try to resuscitate Riley's lifeless body.
The 22-year-old university student was on the run when Ibarra, a member of Torren de Aragua and an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, tried to rape her. When Riley fought back against his violent attacker, he hit her in the head with a rock and suffocated her, prosecutors said.
Homan lamented that previous border security policies could have saved Laken's life and that leaders repeatedly failed to stop Ybarra.
“The government has failed the Riley family,” Homan said. “If Trump were president, [Ibarra] He will remain in Mexico under the Remain in Mexico program. ”
The soon-to-be border czar also explained that Ybarra's previous arrest in New York for child endangerment was sufficient for him to be detained before arriving in Georgia. In Georgia, he arrived by plane using taxpayers' 10 cents. to commit his heinous crime.
“If he got to New York and was arrested in New York for injury to a child, he could be arrested, because the priority under President Trump was that if he was in the country illegally, he would be a target. The body,” Homan explained.
He added that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has significantly watered down immigration enforcement priorities and that endangering children is not enough to detain illegal immigrants in ICE custody.
Homan also said that negligent border policies have resulted in many entirely preventable crimes against vulnerable populations, including a 5-year-old boy found dead of heatstroke in the bed of a tractor-trailer. I remembered.
“I've seen a lot of tragedies. I've talked to hundreds of angel moms and dads who are burying their children because they were killed by illegal aliens, but this is just one of the most recent That's it,” he told Fox host Laura Ingraham.
“I have talked to nine-year-old girls who have been raped multiple times by cartel members, and when you look into their eyes, everything that is innocent and pure has been taken from their souls. Her life will never be the same.'' Same. I'm tired of it. ”
As Homan prepares to take over the reins on immigration enforcement as border czar in January, he has warned politicians in sanctuary cities not to be deterred.
“Your responsibility is to protect your community, and that's what we want to do, protect your community,” he said.
