An illegal immigrant who killed three people in a drunk driving accident was deported to Honduras before he could face manslaughter charges. Prosecutors want him to return to the United States to stand trial.

On Thursday, a spokeswoman for Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said the state is making “attempts to bring deported Erwin Rommel Zinuga back from Honduras to stand trial.” Ta.
In February 2022, Erwin Rommel Zinuga, 28, allegedly drove over 195 mph and crashed his car into a light pole in Miami. Two of the five occupants of the car were ejected from the vehicle, and three died.
According to a report by WTVJ-TV NewsZuniga was arrested on multiple charges, including drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, but has not yet faced trial as he was granted house arrest and deported to Honduras on September 6.
The victim's family is demanding justice from the prosecutor's office in this case.
“They say they're still investigating,” said Miriam Castillo, sister of accident victim Paola Sabillon. WTVJ this week. “That's literally all they say. They haven't given us an ounce of hope.”
An attorney for the Miami-Dade Department of Corrections said the department's policies and procedures have been updated to “prevent something like this from happening again.”
