Civil Air Patrol plane crash in Colorado kills 2 and injures 1

Denver — A Civilian air patrol plane crashes in Colorado The pilot and aerial photographer of the plane were killed, authorities said.

Pilot Susan Wolver and aerial photographer Jay Roten were killed in Saturday's crash in Larimer County, according to a statement released by Gov. Jared Polis' office.

The aircraft was on a routine training mission at the time of the crash. The co-pilot, Randall Settergren, was injured and was airlifted by helicopter to a medical facility by the Colorado Army National Guard.

“The state of Colorado is grateful for their service and it will not be forgotten. We also want to thank the first responders who assisted in rescue and recovery efforts,” Polis said on social media platforms. Mentioned in X.

The Civil Air Patrol, an official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 60,000 members and a fleet of 550 aircraft across the United States.

It conducts search and rescue missions throughout the continental United States and is recognized by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center for saving an average of 70 lives a year.
