A South Carolina community is without a police force after the entire department, including the police chief, resigned.
On Friday, McCall Mayor George Garner confirmed that the town no longer has a police officer. told WMBF News The community is said to be in a “difficult situation”.
Mayor Garner said, “We are actively working to hire a new police chief and increase the number of police officers.”
Garner said Police Chief Bob Hale was the first to submit his resignation, followed by other officers.

In a public Facebook post, Hale said repeated harassment and personal attacks by council members and a “hostile work environment” were the reasons for his resignation.
“It is with a heavy heart that I join all of my fellow officers in confirming my resignation as Chief of Police of the McCall Police Department,” Hale wrote. “My personal decision to leave the McCall Police Department stems from repeated acts of harassment, personal attacks on my character, and the overall creation of a hostile work environment perpetuated by certain City Council members. ”
Mr Hale added that the actions of the unnamed council member had made it impossible for the department to function effectively.
“For months, I have endured unjust and malicious acts aimed at undermining my integrity and leadership,” Hale continued in the post. “These actions not only affected me personally, but also created a toxic atmosphere that hindered the department's ability to function effectively. Despite our efforts, harassment and hostility continue.”
In his statement, Hale also argued that funding has been cut from police budgets and that other important needs of the police department are not being met.

“I also cannot help but feel that these consistent negative acts were strategically used to inhibit the department’s continued growth and success.” At the same time, significant amounts of money will be cut from already exhausted budgets. Mr Hale said his decision to resign was not made lightly and he deeply regrets the impact it will have on the community he has so dedicatedly served.

I believe the Town of McCall will come together to address these challenges and ensure that ethics “We continue to prioritize personal leadership and look forward to creating an environment in which those in public service can do their jobs without undue interference or hostility,” Hale wrote.
One McCall resident told WMBF she was concerned residents could be at risk because the town currently does not have a police station.

Despite Hales' statements, Garner told WMBF that Hale did not leave town on bad terms.
“I don't want to see them go. They were a great group, but we're going to keep going,” Garner said.
Garner added that he has asked the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office and other nearby agencies to help cover the town during that time. He also enlisted the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for additional assistance.
The McCall Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of police chief, and Garner said applications can be picked up at McCall City Hall.

The entire Geary, Oklahoma, police department, including its chief, has resigned, citing political leadership that failed to meet the department's needs.
