Saquon Barkley continues his career season with his new team as the Giants' season spirals further into despair.
The former Giants running back helped the Eagles win 37-20 on Sunday night, finishing the game with 302 total yards in another impressive performance.
Barkley gained a career-high 255 yards on the ground alone and scored two rushing touchdowns, marking the second straight game with multiple touchdowns and the fourth time this season.
His rushing total Sunday night was also an Eagles single-game record.
The running back totaled 1,392 rushing yards for the season, also a career best. The Giants, who fell to 2-9 with a 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday, have rushed for a total of 1,275 yards this season.
Barkley's explosive power was on full display in the two touchdown runs he scored in the second half of the Eagles' victory.
His first rushing touchdown came in the third quarter, when he burst through the hole, leapt over several Ram defenders, and sprinted 70 yards from the right side of the field to the end zone.
The second touchdown of the night was scored in a similar fashion, as the back found a hole, sped through, and easily evaded Rams defenders and ran 72 yards to the end zone.
“Our guys up front did a great job. We were in the first half…the run game is going to start, so let's keep believing in that scheme.” Barkley said after the game.. “Trust them, and they'll make me look so much better.”
Barkley's season was nothing like what happened on I-95 with the Giants, who had just 245 yards of total offense in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
“It's a fresh start,” Barkley said of looking forward to this season. “I've got a great group of guys around me. The whole organization has been great from top to bottom and welcomed me with open arms. I'm having fun and going out and playing at a high level. I’m ready to keep playing.”
