Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has entered many arenas and usually dominates whatever stage he ventures onto. However, there is one stage he is advised to stay away from. It's a political arena.
Former WWE star and current Tennessee Mayor Glenn Jacobs appeared on the Going Ringside podcast this week. When asked about Johnson's candidacy, Jacobs made his feelings on the matter clear.
“If I were him, I wouldn't do that,” Jacobs said. “Politics is incredibly contentious and toxic right now. Regardless of your political stance, everyone loves Dwayne because he's a great entertainer and a good person.
“Remember that no matter what you say in politics, 50% of the population is just going to be mean to you and disagree with you, and you're going to really piss off some people. Of course, deal with it. I had to do that. If I were him, I would personally advise him not to do that.”
Johnson got a taste of what Jacobs was talking about when he endorsed Joe Biden for president in 2020. But when asked if he would strengthen his support further in 2024, Mr Johnson said “no”.
“Are we going to do the same thing this year? The answer is no,” Johnson told Fox & Friends at the time. “I don't mean that, because what it caused then and what it did to this day was something that tore my heart apart, and I realized that it was a division. It fascinated me.”
“Then months and months later, I started to realize, “Oh, this has caused an incredible amount of division in this country.'' So now, going into this election, I'm like, I realized that I don't do that because my goal is to unite the country. It's in my DNA that I believe that, so in that spirit, I don't have any support. .”
Mr Johnson added: “I'm not scared at all, I'm just aware that there's this level of influence. I'm going to keep my politics to myself and it's something that I “I think it's a problem with the ballot box,” he added.
