Buster Olney isn't a fan of how some Dodgers players are holding themselves after beating the Yankees in the World Series.
Dodgers players, including reliever Joe Kelly and utility man Chris Taylor, criticized the Yankees after Los Angeles won the World Series for the first time in five games.
Olney had some choice words for the Dodgers on a recent edition of ESPN's “Baseball Tonight” podcast.
“I know this: If the Yankees had won, Aaron Judge wouldn't have blamed the Dodgers.” olney said, Covered by The Big Lead. “Giancarlo Stanton wouldn't have done that. Anthony Volpe? No chance.
“I think Taylor has had a great career, the way he adjusts at the plate and adapts to different positions,” Olney continued. “He's one of the best in the world at what he does. But he and the few other Dodgers who are crying know better than anyone how difficult their sport is, and they It's better than that. Why not revel in the glory of an incredible World Series victory?”
Taylor made the inflammatory remarks on Bleacher Report's “On Base with Mookie Betts.”
“We all feel that way,” Taylor said, referring to the infamous comedy of errors that occurred in the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 5. “(The Yankees') legs are kind of falling off. ” he said. “They were putting pressure on. It was one thing after another. … All we have to do now is put the ball in play.”
On the podcast “Baseball Isn't Boring,” Kelly criticized the Yankees for being lazy.
“Every game we watched them just throw the ball into the infield and not make a play,” Kelly said. “…It was a mismatch from the beginning, and if there was a playoff reranking, they could be ranked eighth or ninth in the playoffs.
“I’m putting the Padres ahead of them, I’m putting the Phillies ahead of them, I’m putting the Mets ahead of them, I’m putting the Braves ahead of them, and the Braves were just unlucky. . To play that double header.
“I mean, the Guardians played shit, but the Guardians played better.” [defense] And better baseball. It was a complete mismatch. ”
