Newly released body camera footage shows a Democratic Party official who was arrested for making inappropriate comments about a male police officer during a drunk driving arrest.
Cook County Board of Review Chairwoman Samantha Steele, 45, was arrested on November 10 and charged with driving under the influence. At the time, she was found lying on the ground near two damaged parked vehicles.
Steele, who was clearly intoxicated, admitted to hitting the car, according to a police report obtained by FOX 32 Chicago. Officers also observed an opened bottle of red wine on the floor of her car.
“I observed that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy,” the officer wrote in the report. “I also noticed a strong odor.” [an] An alcoholic beverage came out of her breath as she spoke. ”

According to the police report, the employee was drunk and also made vulgar comments to a male employee, including repeatedly asking him, “Is your penis really that small?” during her arrest. The exchange was not captured on censored body camera footage.
Chicago Police Department (CPD) footage obtained by FOX 32 begins with officers meeting with Steele shortly after the accident and asking for his license and registration, which Steele declined to share.
Eventually, multiple officers asked Steele to get out of the car, but Steele refused. The footage also shows Steele touting his status as a government employee.
“If you don't get out of the car, I'll help you get out,” the officer is heard saying. “And you don't want that.”
“You wouldn't want that,” Steele replied. “I'm an elected official.”

Steele continued to interact with the officers and called his attorney. At another point, Steele told officials, “I'm an elected official and I don't want this to happen.”
Cook County officials were on the phone with an attorney and finally asked him to take a breathalyzer test.
“Now, tell the lawyer, okay, he's on the phone, are you going to do a field sobriety test or not?” the officer asked.
“No,” Steele answered, and police handcuffed her against her will.
“I asked her to do this. [a] “I took a field sobriety test and she refused,” the officer is heard saying in the video. “And she smelled like alcohol. She had been drinking…you were being taped the whole time.”
