Deebo Samuel addresses Kyle Shanahan hot-seat chatter

Deebo Samuel can't believe the idea of Kyle Shanahan taking the hot seat.

Chatter is starting to sink in that this could be Shanhan's last year in San Francisco if the team continues to have a poor season and misses the playoffs a year after advancing from the NFC to the Super Bowl.

About his podcast “Creats and Combos with Deebo Samuel”the 49ers' star wideout was asked about the idea that Shanahan could leave at the end of the year.

“I don't think so. I think we've only had one losing season since we've been here and that was because of COVID,” Samuel said. “I can sit here and hum along about how everyone got hurt that year.”

Samuel said he has a broken leg and the team also has injured Jimmy Garoppolo, Trent Williams and Jauan Jennings.

“Other than that, you can't show me the losing season he's had since I've been here,” Samuel continued.

“The first year was the Super Bowl. The second year was due to the coronavirus. The next year was the NFC Championship. A year later, the NFC Championship was held again. Last year's Super Bowl. Why do you say he's on the hot seat? At the end of the day, we're 5-6 right now and we still have six or seven games to go.”

“At the end of the day, Kyle is one of the smartest and best players around.” [friendly] Any coach you could ask for. I don't know who's in the hot seat…just watching from me being in the building every day. We're at a bit of a disadvantage against the 8-ball right now, but he doesn't see it that way. ”

The 49ers lost to the Packers last Sunday and the Seahawks the week before.

San Francisco has been severely plagued by injuries this season.

The 6-5 Cardinals are just one game behind the division-leading Seahawks with six games remaining in the NFC West.
