Giants’ Wan’Dale Robinson ready to live up to CeeDee Lamb’s praise

The Giants expect CeeDee Lamb to be a good scout as well as a receiver.

Shortly after the last Super Bowl, Lamb joined Cowboys teammate Micah Person's podcast to talk about the NFL's best receivers.

He threw the name of the Giants' 2022 second-round draft pick Wan'Dale Robinson into the conversation.

“Do you know who is really a sleeper?” said Lamb. “Wan Dale Robinson from New York. He's very fast. He's a very nice guy. His routes are crazy.”

That incident raised some eyebrows at the time, considering Robinson only had two receiving touchdowns and one 100-yard game in 21 games.

Skeptics thought the praise must be one friend hyping another, but that wasn't the case at all.

“I've never had a conversation with him,” Robinson told the Post. “We have the same trainer (Delfonte Diamond), but we've never been to the same sessions. Maybe he thought we should watch 'One Dale' or something? But I didn't see it coming. People have been sending it to me. It's definitely nice to get love from your peers. ”

Lamb and Robinson, who rank first and 10th in the league in goals this season, will share the field on Thanksgiving when the Giants visit the Cowboys.

The game will be Robinson's penultimate game before the two-year anniversary of the ACL surgery that cut short his rookie season.

“Last year I was really trying to find my footing,” Robinson said. “When he said that, I thought, 'Hmm,' because I don't think I look anything like myself in that tape. Even if I didn't look exactly like me, I It was cool to see guys understand that it's becoming more open.”

Lambs are the best recipients to participate in conversations.

He is on pace to lead the NFL in catches for the second year in a row, with 77 yards in 11 games following last season's 135, but the last three games have been spent playing with backup quarterback Cooper Rush. , his yards per catch has fallen to a career record. -Minimum 10.9.

Robinson will celebrate that number. He is tied for 10th in catches (61), but ranks 59th in receiving yards (441) and 114th in air yards per target (4.3). This is because he ran a route in front of the first down marker while the Giants had an advantage. His ability to make tacklers miss in open space and gain yards after the catch.

In the first game after benching their quarterback and replacing the then-released Daniel Jones with Tommy DeVito, the Giants tried to give Robinson a spark with a 4-and-1 jet sweep.

Robinson was unable to weave his way through the sea of corpses and was unable to reform his life.

Neither Lamb nor Robinson will be participating in the playoffs this season, but maybe they'll meet for the first time before the turkey dinner.

It was a missed opportunity after the Cowboys won their Week 4 matchup.

“I was a little too mad at myself to go talk to anyone because I thought I could have played better,” Robinson said. “I definitely have to say something after this.”
