On Wednesday, David Stearns & Company signed veteran left-hander Genesis Cabrera to a minor league contract that includes an invitation to major league camp.
Cabrera, a 28-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, pitched in 69 games for the Blue Jays last season, posting a 3.59 ERA.
In six major league seasons (his first four and a half with the Cardinals and the past year and a half with Toronto), Cabrera posted a 3.89 ERA and 268 strikeouts in 275 2/3 innings.
Cabrera has no minor league options left.
