Dexter Lawrence’s season likely over as Giants misery continues

Dexter Lawrence's best season to date is probably over.

Lawrence dislocated his elbow in Thursday's loss to the Cowboys, and the two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle is likely “season-ending'' with the Giants (2-10) already eliminated with five games remaining. The rest will be shelved. Playoff battle.

Rookie tight end Theo Johnson is also likely to suffer a season-ending foot injury.

Lawrence leads the Giants with nine sacks.

It's ugly just thinking about what would happen to the NFL's worst rushing defense (5.1 yards allowed per carry) if he didn't draw double or triple teams up the middle.

Asked after the game how he would react if he received a season-ending diagnosis, Lawrence said: “I would be hurt, because I love going out there every week and competing with my guys. That's what brings me joy.'' And I hate not being able to get out there.”

The 340-pound Ironman has missed just three games (one due to injury) during his six-year career.
