Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams took a costly penalty in the fourth quarter of the Lions' 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears.
As the Lions were driving into Bears territory, Williams made the catch, was pushed out of bounds, and flipped the ball toward a player on the Bears' sideline.
Williams received a 15-yard warning for taunting, a penalty that proved costly as kicker Jake Bates missed his first field goal in 45 years that would have given the Lions a 26-13 lead at the time.

That missed field goal was crucial in sparking a Bears comeback, scoring a touchdown on the possession after the missed field goal.
After the game, reporters asked Lions head coach Dan Campbell about Williams' taunt penalty, as the wide receiver was penalized and was benched until the end of the game.
“Honestly, it's already taken care of. It's already taken care of. So we're fine, and the fact is, as you know, Jamo unilaterally got in front of the team a minute ago. I wanted to come and apologize to my teammates, but it's a great player, it's growth, it's all good,” Campbell said.

Campbell hopes Williams' apology doesn't result in any more provocative penalties. The third-year wide receiver is a key part of the Lions' energetic offense. Williams has caught 34 passes for 630 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games this season.
Williams had five catches for 28 yards in addition to 18 yards rushing during the Lions' Thanksgiving win.
