Israeli military says Hezbollah is smuggling weapons into Lebanon during ceasefire

The Israel Defense Forces claimed on Saturday that Hezbollah terrorists are smuggling weapons into Lebanon despite the continued ceasefire agreement with Israel.

IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichai Adlai told It was actively used to transfer weapons from Syria to Lebanon.”

“This attack was carried out after monitoring the transfer of Hezbollah combat equipment from Syria to Lebanon even after the ceasefire agreement. This is a threat to the State of Israel and a violation of the understanding of the ceasefire agreement,” it added.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah entered its fourth day on Saturday. Some Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon following ground operations that began in October, and are expected to withdraw within the next 60 days under the terms of a ceasefire.

However, Hezbollah militants appear to remain active within Lebanon.

“A large number of armed groups were seen arriving in southern Lebanon areas and loading RPGs, ammunition boxes and other military equipment onto vehicles,” Adlai said on Saturday. “Moments later, IAF aircraft attacked,” he said.

“In another incident, air force aircraft attacked a military vehicle operating within Hezbollah's missile production infrastructure deep in Lebanon,” he continued.

He shared images of rifles and grenades allegedly found at the scene.

“The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon and will crack down on any violations of the ceasefire agreement,” Adlai declared.

Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, state media reported that two people were killed and two others injured in an attack by an Israeli military drone on the village of Rub Taraseen, according to the Associated Press.
