Review of the Jets after their 26-21 home loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
offense
They got off to a good start with two touchdowns in the first quarter, but slumped after that. QB Aaron Rodgers (21 of 39, 185 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, QB rating of 73.1) missed Garrett Wilson for an open touchdown that would have given the Jets a 28-7 lead. One play later, he threw an interception, which Leonard Williams returned for a touchdown. Breece Hall (12 rushes, 60 yards) committed a costly fumble late in the third quarter that led to the Seahawks' score. The Jets were still in the game in the fourth quarter, but once again they were unable to score. This is the fifth time they have failed in that situation.

defense
This was a 2024-vintage Jets defensive performance. The numbers don't seem that bad, but the results aren't. The Seahawks only managed 259 total yards, but folded again when the Jets needed a stop in the fourth quarter. The Seahawks put together a nine-play, 71-yard drive to take the lead with 5:31 left in the game. This drive featured three penalties on fourth down and one penalty on third down that helped Seattle reach the end zone. QB Geno Smith (20-of-31, 206 yards, 1 TD, 94.3 rating) wasn't great, but he didn't turn the ball over and led the Seahawks in key moments.

special teams
If you're looking for a silver lining in this game, the Jets' special teams had a bigger impact than they have all season. Kene Nwanwu returned the kickoff for a touchdown and forced a fumble on the Seahawks return. Seattle had two fumbles, but the Jets recovered them with returns. The Jets also prevented an extra point and were held to one point.

coaching

Jeff Ulbrich went 1-6 as interim head coach. His team looked incredibly sloppy in the second half, handing the game to a Seahawks team that was on the verge of losing in the first half. The Jets had 12 penalties, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. The offense disappeared after the first quarter. The defense collapsed in the fourth quarter. Ulbrich's time management was questionable as he tried to get the ball back at the end of the first half without using any timeouts. This team is still badly coached.
