Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders recently announced his support for Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to significantly reform and reduce government spending.

“Elon Musk is right. The Department of Defense, which has a budget of $886 billion, has just failed seven of its budgets.th Continuous audit. Billions are missing. Last year, only 13 senators voted against the military-industrial complex and a defense budget riddled with waste and fraud. That has to change,” Sanders (I-Vermont) announced on the X-Post.

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) welcomed Sanders' participation as bipartisan support for shrinking government grows.

“Welcome home, Bernie,” Gates wrote in X's post.

President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE, with the goal of “cutting excessive regulation and cutting wasteful spending” and downsizing federal agencies. Later, an unlikely union took place.

When announcing DOGE, President Trump said, “Together, these two great Americans will help my administration dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce overregulation, reduce wasteful spending, and improve federal agencies.'' This will pave the way for rebuilding the United States, which is essential to the 'Save America' movement.”

DOGE will work with the incoming Trump administration, but the organization will operate as an outside agency rather than an official branch of the government.

Sanders has long been a critic of the federal defense budget, arguing that the money would be better spent on social programs.

“Somehow, we never have enough money for health care, education, or housing, but we always have enough money for a bloated and wasteful Department of Defense that can't even pass an independent audit. It's time to change our priorities. It's now,” Bernie previously said.

Additionally, California Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) recently said that Democrats would work with Musk and Ramaswamy to cut the defense budget, citing “waste, fraud, and abuse.” .
