A pastor in Antioch, California, fought off an alleged axe-wielding robber at First Family Church just after midnight on Thanksgiving morning.

NBC News quotation Neves recalls the moment he confronted the robbery suspect: ”
Neves added: “I like to stay fit, I study Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing, and I have mixed martial arts experience, so it was very helpful for me to be able to face this gentleman without doing too much harm.'' I did.”
He said he essentially detained the robbery suspect and took him to police.
Neves said the church distributed food to about 130 families in need this Thanksgiving, and that would-be robbers might have been able to get food if they had come at the right time and in the right way. I observed. If he had come a few days earlier, he would have gotten blessed. [sic] Feed them and take care of them. But instead he decided to break windows, desecrate property, and do other things that would cause damage to the ministry. ”
KTVU reported A “long ax and a small push dagger” were recovered by police at the scene. The robbery suspect is believed to have used an ax to break into the church.
