A 72-year-old American man has mysteriously disappeared aboard the Princess Cruises ship, and authorities believe he may have fallen overboard at some point during the ship's five-day voyage around Mexico.
The Ruby Princess docked in San Francisco just before 7 a.m. Monday and authorities began searching for the passengers after crew members realized they were missing from the ship, the cruise line said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was traveling alone and may have died.
“Princess worked throughout the day with local authorities. Surveillance camera footage was also thoroughly examined and the ship was thoroughly searched multiple times without success,” a cruise line spokesperson said. told the Post.
“Having ruled out other possibilities, this is being treated as a personal injury accident.”
The spokesperson added, “We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the guest who was traveling alone.''
The Ruby Princess departed for Ensenada, Mexico on November 27th.
It was not immediately clear when the passenger fell overboard.
