The country's foreign-born population is on pace to reach more than 82 million people by 2040 if the levels of legal and illegal immigration that have skyrocketed under President Joe Biden continue.
In the research, published Stephen Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies suggests the impact of Biden's legacy of mass immigration could be far-reaching.
Under Biden's watch, the foreign-born population has reached a record high of nearly 52 million people, or about 15.5% of the U.S. population.
If immigration levels remain the same as under this administration, Camarota estimates the foreign-born population will reach 82.2 million by 2040.
Under the Biden administration, the foreign-born population increased by nearly 7 million people in less than four years. For comparison, the foreign-born population increased by about 6.4 million people in the eight years under former President Barack Obama, which was considered a historic high at the time.
Camarota said a major factor is the surge in illegal immigration under the Biden administration.
Since January 2021, there have been nearly 10.5 million border encounters, at least 6 million people released into the interior of the United States, 1.8 million illegal alien fugitives, an unknown number of border crossings, and approximately 50 Between 10,000 and 800,000 foreigners have overstayed their visas. Every year.
As a result, “the scale of immigration has been unprecedented,” Camarota writes.
