Graham calls Hegseth charges 'very concerning'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) said the allegations of sexual assault and other misconduct against Pete Hegseth stem, in part, from his time as head of a veterans group. “This is deeply concerning,” he said, making the path to becoming the next secretary of defense even more difficult. . The South Carolina Republican said Tuesday it remains to be seen whether Hegseth can cross the finish line after President-elect Trump nominated him to run.

Afghanistan's top official promoted after senator's hold lifted

An Army officer who served in Afghanistan was promoted by the Senate on Monday night after Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) lifted a hold on the promotion. He had expressed concern about the lack of accountability for the U.S. withdrawal in 2021. Lt. Gen. Christopher T. Donahue was promoted to general by unanimous vote of the Senate. While in Afghanistan, Donahue was the commander of the 82nd Airborne.
