Do the opposite, Tali!
Tali Eason, a 23-year-old forward for the Houston Rockets, your inner terry o'reilly During Tuesday night's NBA Cup contest, during a 120-111 loss to the Kings at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, he attempted to correct a fan who climbed into the stands and heckled him.
The off-camera incident occurred as Eason was walking back through the tunnel toward the visiting locker room. According to The Athletic.
Upon hearing fans shouting at him, the forward responded by spinning his wheels and shouting obscenities of his own.
According to a reporter for The Athletic, Eason threw a towel in the direction of the fan.
Even these measures did not quell the crowd, and Eason changed course and tried to run into the stands.
He hurried up one of the adjacent ramps leading to the courtroom to the lower concourse, but security guards prevented him from reaching his destination.
It took two officers to block Eason's path and persuade the forward to relent.
The third-year guard out of LSU was clearly emotional, but he wasn't alone.
Head coach Ime Udoka, who led the Rockets to a strong start of 15 wins and 7 losses, was ejected for verbally abusing game officials with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
On the previous play, the Rockets' Alperen Shengun was hit at the rim with multiple contact, and Udoka clearly believed it was a foul.
After the whistle, Udoka followed referee John Goble all over the court, but Goble seemed to have little intention of enjoying the conversation.
Elsewhere on the court, Eason clashed with the Kings' Malik Monk over who should hold the basketball during a break in play.
Eason and Udoka had to be held back by a handful of coaches and teammates.
“They call it ticking screens and bullshit, but it’s not like that.” Udoka said this after the match.. “I said [Goble] “Get your fucking glasses, open your eyes…take your sensibilities and emotions out of it and call the game the right way.”
Back on the court, the commotion earned Sacramento three technical free throws. Monk made all three to extend the Kings lead to 15.
Despite Tuesday's loss, the Rockets still finished first in West Group A and qualified for the Western Conference quarterfinals of the NBA Cup.
Houston will play Golden State on Wednesday for a spot in the semifinals.
Tipoff is scheduled for Thursday at 10 p.m.
