And the Giants' starting quarterback this week is…Drew Lock.
Head coach Brian Daboll made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. Lock will start Sunday against the Saints at MetLife Stadium as the Giants (2-10) look to end a seven-game losing streak.
The starting job was decided by Lock or Tommy DeVito.
DeVito is still dealing with soreness in his right forearm and was limited in Wednesday's practice.
That means Lock will get all first-team reps this week. That's something he didn't do before making his first start against the Giants on Thanksgiving Day at AT&T Stadium, a 27-20 loss to the Cowboys.
Lock completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards and threw a pick-six interception that cost his team points. He also lost a fumble on his second costly turnover.
Lock ran four times for 57 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown run.
“He made some good plays, some with his feet, stepped up when he got pressure, kept his eyes downfield,” Daboll said. “We've got to fix some of the turnovers. We're going to give him a full week here to prepare for this game.”
DeVito still isn't 100 percent after the Giants' 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 12.
When the decision was made to bench Daniel Jones, Daboll named DeVito the starter. In the Giants' rout, DeVito completed 21 of 31 passes for 189 yards.
He injured his right arm in this game, opening the door for Lock to start four days later against the Cowboys.
