Martina Navratilova, a tennis icon and openly lesbian who is married to a woman, says the Republican Party has been more outspoken about transgender women in sports than the Democratic Party, which she has been a part of for decades. He is reportedly “pissed off” by the president.

Navratilova has been outspoken about transgender people in women's sports since 2022, when she criticized Leah Thomas, a male swimmer who lives as a woman, for competing against female athletes in college.
“It's not about excluding transgender women from previous victories,” the 59-time Grand Slam champion said. “But that means not allowing them to win when they are far from winning as men.”
“We try to get as close as possible to what would happen if we were born in a female biological body from the beginning,” Navratilova continued. “And people also say they make an exception for biological women. People don't even want to use those words. I don't know what else to say. Other than that.”
Navratilova also attended the Independent Women's Forum's “Reclaim Title IX” rally in June, where she said fair and proper integration of transgender people in women's sports is “impossible.”
“Initially, we are Democrats, and we are predominantly women, so we in this group are trying to get men who identify as transgender, men who identify as women, into women's sports. “I was trying to find every way to do it,” she said. “And the more we tried to find ways to reduce the advantage, handicap it, or somehow include it, the more we found out that it was impossible to do it in a fair way. It's impossible to do, and we're in a much different position here.”
“'You're a bigot, you're a transphobe, you're a Nazi, you're a fascist, you're a communist', everything in between. And this is coming from the left. I'm on the left. ! My people are against me. They are against us women who stand up for our gender rights,” she added.
