UFC legend Jim Miller criticizes ‘steroid vacation’ after Donald Cerrone says he will unretire following testosterone use

UFC veteran Jim Miller said fighters should not take time off to use testosterone before returning to the Octagon.

Miller spoke specifically about former opponent Donald Cerrone, saying Cerrone is “very open” about using testosterone replacement therapy, but that it won't heal his brain from his previous knockout.

“He's been knocked out so many times that it doesn't go away even after a while. [testosterone replacement therapy] Or whatever. To be 100% honest, I'm not really interested. ”

Cerrone suffered a six-fight losing streak in July 2022 due to Miller's guillotine choke, ending his career. Miller was avenging his loss to Cerrone in 2014. head kick KO.

However, Cerrone announced in October that he wanted to return to the UFC and complete the remaining two fights on his contract.

“When I retired, I said I was getting my hair done and taking steroids,” Cerrone said at the time. “I’ve been taking TRT and high doses of peptides for the past two years, and now I have a complete protocol. [said]”Oh, what if I get on this thing and it never comes off?” he said rhetorically. We'll fight in a few months. So look at this. ”

According to mixed martial arts martial artsCerrone plans to return around his 42nd birthday in March 2025.

“I don't really like the whole steroid vacation thing. What are we doing?

Miller told the outlet that while it was difficult to “tell another adult male what to do,” it was up to Cerrone and his team to decide “if he gets hit in the head again.” .

The 41-year-old then explained that he did not approve of steroid use prior to his return.

“I don't really like the whole steroid vacation thing. What are we doing? But he's going to do what he wants.”

Miller said he personally never wanted to have to retire and then come back. “When I choose it, it's over for me.”

Miller's disapproval appears to be rooted in concerns that fighters are not taking proper care of themselves. he directly mentioned his brother Dana former UFC fighter who last fought in 2015, but retired for reasons Miller described as attempting to come back from an injury that ultimately ended his career.

“It’s a tough place. [for Cerrone]. I don't like making decisions for other adult men. They will be able to take care of themselves. Whatever he decides to do, he does it and does it to the fullest. ”

It appears Cerrone already has plans for his remaining two fights in the UFC. He recently appeared on the comedy podcast “kill tony'', he declared that he would like to fight boxer Jake Paul in mixed martial arts.
