A private security firm used by several Fortune 500 companies says its phones have been “ringing off the hook” with potential customers after UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson was executed in Manhattan. , top business leaders are fearing for their lives.

Allied Universal, which provides private security services to 80% of Fortune 500 companies, has been inundated with inquiries after Wednesday's shocking midtown assassination, said Allied Universal, which operates Enhanced Protection Services. Glenn Kucera told the New York Times.

Kucera said the company offers a wide range of security services, such as having security guards outside offices and chauffeuring executives, but that comes at a high cost.

Companies must spend about $250,000 a year to keep their chief executives full-time, he said.

The sharp increase in calls to the company comes as dozens of people are attending the summit on Ziegfeld 54th Street in midtown, not far from the scene where Thompson was shot and killed by a masked man outside the Hilton Hotel. This is because the heads of Fortune 1000 companies descend on Manhattan.
