Realistic sex scenes are one of Nicole Kidman's specialties.
Her raunchy shots for 1999's Eyes Wide Shut are said to have led to the end of her marriage to Tom Cruise.
In the 2012 erotic film The Paperboy, there was a disturbing scene in which she urinated to save Zac Efron from a jellyfish sting. Her spectacularly intense sex scene in Big Little Lies became one of the series' most talked about points.
Currently, she is leading “Baby Girl''. The film begins with her having a dramatic orgasm, followed by a series of sex scenes that make Fifty Shades of Gray and 9 1/2 Weeks look distinctly tame.
“I think this movie is very liberating. I hope it is. Some people say it's the most disturbing movie they've ever seen, but I'm like, 'Oh, I'm so sorry. ”So much of the movie is about power and how it affects you sexually. '' Kidman told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Baby Girl” does not conform to the standard male format of most bawdy thrillers. The amorous protagonist is Romy, played by Kidman, an older and more powerful CEO who is unsatisfied with her marriage to Jacob, played by Antonio Banderas, and seeks sexual gratification with a much younger office intern, played by Harrison Dickinson. Rely on Samuel.
Kidman, 57, is proud of the female perspective in the film, which was written and directed by Halina Lane, especially since her role was written for people in their 20s and 30s. It wasn't for anything, but because she said she was “excited” and “fell under a kind of hypnosis.” ” she thought when she first read the script.
Lane explains it this way: For women, there is still not enough room to explore this behavior. ”
When asked about her notable orgasms (all faked in front of the cameras, of course), Kidman admitted: I was very personable. It is too sacred to pull back all the curtains. ”
Thankfully, her current husband, country singer Keith Urban, does a good job of separating his wife and work.
“My husband is an artist, so he understands everything,” she recently told People, insisting that she doesn't get involved in the creative process at all until the final product is complete.
“When he's on a show, he sees everything edited together…He doesn't read any scripts. He doesn't really know what's going on on set,” Kidman added to the magazine.
This situation led Kidman and Cruise, then the biggest movie stars on the planet, to enter into a marital contract to appear together in the notoriously demanding Stanley Kubrick film Eyes Wide Shut. This is in stark contrast to 1999.
This erotic thriller follows Cruise's character as a doctor whose wife, who admits to fantasizing about other men, sets him on a journey of sexual and psychological discovery.
Some of Kidman's sex scenes were with actor Gary Goba, who played a naval officer in the film. According to Kidman biographer James L. Dickerson, Cruise was not on the closed set at the time of filming.
He tracked down Goba for his 2018 book, “Nicole Kidman: A Kind of Life,'' and spoke to the Post.
He was surprised by how graphic Goba's sex scenes were, with the pair performing around 50 sexual positions over six days of filming.
On the first day, Goba was stunned when Kubrick instructed them to get completely naked.
“Goba was shocked by the specificity Kubrick used in directing his movements,” Dickerson writes in the book. “The director talked to him as if Nicole wasn't in the room. When Nicole heard a directive she didn't like, she blamed Kubrick for suggesting it; I never said no, no matter how obvious it was.”
Dickerson said she believes, based on what Goba and others have told her, these sex scenes forever changed the dynamics of Kidman and Cruise's marriage.
“That was the key to the divorce,” Dickerson claimed to the Post.
Kidman admitted at the time that she pushed herself on set, but admitted it was because of Kubrick.
In 1999 she said, “I don't think I would do the same thing as any other director,” adding, “Stanley wanted it to be almost pornographic, but he didn't exploit me.”
Reflecting on her still-standing attitude towards sex scenes, she told Salon magazine: This movie is about sex and sexual obsession, and a scene where she's wearing a bra and panties and pretending to have sex with someone couldn't have happened.
“We needed graphic quality. After that scene, it was hard to go home to my husband, but we both decided that we were going to basically get lost in this world for a year and a half, and we actually did.” I did.”
Cruise filed for divorce from Kidman in 2001, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Neither party has revealed the real reason behind the end of their marriage, which saw them adopt Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, but Kidman told Vanity Fair in 2002 that , she said she was very lonely and the divorce made her “crie like a fetus.” At one point I checked my “position on the floor”.
In 2012, Kidman continued: hollywood reporter: “People thought of making it [“Eyes Wide Shut”] It was the beginning of the end of my marriage, but I don't think it actually was. ”
Her on-screen dastardly deeds predate that film by a decade, and she first came to Hollywood's attention in the 1989 thriller Dead Calm.
In that film, she had an intense sex scene with Billy Zane, and the show's assistant director said he was shocked by the way she moved in and out of her role on set.
“There was a lot of violence directed at her in the movie,” Dickerson explained. “What surprised me was that the assistant director brought young children to the set, and right after a very violent scene, she sat down, completely changed her demeanor, and started playing with the children.
“Then she stood up and, without blinking, immediately returned to this horrific scene.”
Of course, not all of Kidman's work (who is also the mother of 16-year-old Sunday Rose and 13-year-old Faith Margaret and Urban) is sexual. In fact, Baby Girl is just the last of Kidman's major roles over the past year.
She also starred as the glamorous and successful novelist matriarch in Netflix's mystery novel series “The Perfect Couple,” played a high-ranking CIA agent in the action series “Special Ops: Lioness,” and appeared in the adventure anime “Spellbound.” I gave my voice.
She also got to show off the lighter side of the theme of an older woman seducing a younger man in the romantic comedy A Family Affair. It features an even sexier scene where her character seduces Zac Efron (now somehow 37 years old) and yes, even more sexy scenes.
In fact, even Kidman jokingly admitted that she was completely exhausted from performing all the sex in “Baby Girl.” “There were times during filming where I thought, 'I don't want to have another orgasm,'” Kidman joked.
“Baby Girl” will be released on December 25th.
