On Friday's broadcast of NewsNation's “The Hill,” Rep. Sidney Kamlager-Daub (D-Calif.) said she doesn't want anything to do with the Department of Government Efficiency because “it doesn't do bad things.” “This is because it is a false position for the impostors who are trying to do so,” he said. Cut programs that Americans need. “But in negotiations with Republicans, we're going to have to come to the table because their margins are so thin. So we want to be at the table. I want to make it work for people.”
After playing footage of some Democrats saying they wanted to be in the room, host Blake Berman asked, “Do you want to be in DOGE?”
Mr Kamlager-Dove replied: I think this is a phony position from fake people trying to cut programming that the American people need. I certainly don't care that grandmas across the country are dying because DOGE is trying to cut access to Social Security and Medicare. ”
After Mr. Berman interjected that he had no intention of pursuing Social Security, Mr. Kamlager-Dove retorted: “What they're saying is they want to cut at least $2 trillion, and Congress has about $1.7 trillion earmarked. So what else they want to cut will have to come from mandatory programs that keep people alive. How can we improve government work by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse? And in fact, we just got elected to the Congressional Black Caucus…so when we're negotiating with Republicans, their margins are very thin. We have to be at the table. So we want to be at the table. We want to make government work for everyone.”
Then Mr. Berman interjected and asked, “Isn't it just the DOGE table?”
Mr Kamlager-Dove replied: It's not a real agency or department. They can certainly make suggestions. It's crazy to me that Elon Musk has spent more than $6 billion in taxpayer money to pursue his hobby of getting more investors to invest in what he's trying to do. It's interesting for. But at the end of the day, Congress must make sure Americans are alive, healthy, employed, and thriving. ”
