Lee Corso absent from ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ again

Reese-Davis made sure to put any concerns to rest when Lee Corso didn't appear on stage on “College Gameday” on Sunday.

Davis said on Saturday's show that Corso underwent “minor surgery” and was not with ESPN staff in Atlanta before the SEC Championship game between No. 2 Texas and No. 5 Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was announced that this is the reason.

“He's doing really well,” Davis said. “[We] I look forward to having Lee back here in the postseason. Know that he is watching now and he will be with us all day long. ”

Corso, 89, has been absent from the show several times this season for health reasons, making him an unstable member of the show.

Most recently, he missed two consecutive weeks in October due to health reasons, but returned on October 19th and has since returned to the show.

Coloso, who has made several gaffes this season, has become one of sports media's most beloved figures, known for picking out famous mascot heads in front of crowds on college campuses.

He joined ESPN in 1987 and is the only original member of the show. ESPN has added former Alabama coach Nick Saban to its “College GameDay” team this season.

ESPN's president of content Burke Magnus was asked about Coro's future on his show in November. Episode of the podcast “SI Media with Jimmy Traina”.

“Listen, we're going to do what we're doing now for a couple of years in a row, which means we're going to talk to him after the season and see how things go,” Magnus said. “He's a special guy. He's one of the nicest men your listeners and anyone on the planet will ever meet. And he was absolutely iconic on the show.”
