An incoming Missouri lawmaker has introduced a bill that would provide $1,000 to anyone who reports an illegal immigrant to authorities.
Republican state Sen. David Gregory proposed a measure that would provide $1,000 to those who turn in illegal immigration and are subsequently arrested.
SB 72 would authorize the state Department of Public Safety to “develop an information system for people to report violations of this law,” including a toll-free telephone hotline, email, and online reporting portal. Included.

The bill would also create the Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program, which would allow local residents to act as bounty hunters “for the purpose of locating and apprehending illegal aliens” in the state.
Only bail bondsmen and surety collectors are eligible to apply for this program as bounty hunters.
The proposal would also make it a felony to be in the state as an illegal immigrant.

“When I ran for State Senate, I promised to make Missouri a national leader in the fight against illegal immigration,” Gregory said in a post on social media Platform X.
“Now, I am keeping my word. SB 72 will make it a felony to be here illegally, and this bill will finally allow Missouri law enforcement to locate and arrest illegal immigrants.” he continued. “We must all work together to ensure that illegal immigrants are caught before they commit violent crimes.”
