New Orleans Saints punter Matthew Hayball received the wrath of interim head coach Darren Rizzi on Sunday against the New York Giants.
In the second quarter, Hayball punted the ball to returner Ihimir Smith-Marsette. Smith-Marsette made a move, finishing off a punt that the Giants thought was a touchdown, and even nearly fumbled for the ball on its way to the end zone.

As the Giants celebrated, the players began to notice flags being thrown on the play. New York wiped Smith-Marsette's punt return touchdown off the board and was called for a hold.
Rizzi could be seen on the sideline taking in the hay ball. Saints running back Alvin Kamara had to get between his coach and teammates. It was a 43-yard punt, but Rizzi seemed upset that Smith-Marsette kicked it.

It's clear the Saints' special teams hold a special place in Rizzi's heart. He joined the Saints as special teams coordinator in 2019 after serving in the same role with the Miami Dolphins. In 2022, he was promoted to special teams coordinator and associate head coach.
Rizzi was hired as the team's interim head coach midway through this season after New Orleans fired Dennis Allen.
