President-elect Donald Trump described Italy's conservative Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as a “real transit line” after meeting with her and other world leaders in Paris.
Trump, 76, told the Post that his meeting with the Italian leader on Sunday at the reopening of the iconic Notre Dame cathedral was “amazing” and that she had “a lot of energy.” Ta.
President Trump said of Meloni that he “spent a lot of time with her,” noting that they had dinner together at a reception attended by 60 world leaders.
Trump added: “We got along very well.”
Republicans acknowledged that the group of world leaders who took part in church reopenings is a “similar group” to the last time they were in the White House four years ago, and said they hope they can “fix the world a little bit.” He said he hopes it will be possible.
Meanwhile, Meloni was elected as Italy's first female prime minister in 2022, after President Trump leaves office.
The 47-year-old has since become a conservative force in European politics, with opinion polls showing she is one of the region's popular national leaders.
