Liberty Guard Sabrina Ionescu underwent surgery last week and is recovering well.
Ionescu underwent surgery on Friday to stabilize the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb, a team source confirmed to the newspaper.
Ionescu's surgery, first reported by ESPN, was performed by Los Angeles surgeon Dr. Steven S. Singh and was deemed a success.
Ionescu has already begun the rehabilitation process and is expected to return to on-court activities in about four weeks, team officials said.
ESPN first reported in September that Ionescu suffered a torn shooter's UCL during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.
Ionescu, who turned 27 on Friday, took to Instagram on Sunday to reflect on the year since her last birthday.
One of several photos shared showed a smiling Ionescu lying in a hospital bed with her right arm in a cast.
“PS: Getting my thumb fixed was a real birthday present,” Ionescu wrote in the caption.
Last season, Ionescu averaged 18.2 points, 6.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds in his fifth WNBA season. She played an integral role in the Liberty winning the franchise's first WNBA title in October.

Ionescu made a deep go-ahead 3-pointer to secure New York's victory in Game 3 of the Finals against the Minnesota Lynx.
Ionescu, a three-time All-Star, had a very productive year. Not only is she a WNBA champion, she's married and won a gold medal on Team USA at this summer's Paris Games.
