Pro Golf Legend Phil Mickelson Praises Daniel Penny in ‘Random Thoughts’ Post

LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson told fans his thoughts on the Daniel Penny incident in a “Random Thoughts” post on Sunday's X.

Mickelson apparently vented his feelings for X while watching the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

“Just a personal opinion, but Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth were great in the booth. 'The Day of the Jackal' is a great show,” he began his post.

He added: “If a crazy person threatens to kill you, hope Daniel Penny is by your side.”

Penny, of course, is the man who acts to stop a deranged man from harming others on a New York City subway car in 2023. He was ultimately charged with strangling Jordan Neely to death. Penny was ultimately acquitted of manslaughter.

Mickelson also commented on Penny's innocence Monday.

“Finally, a little common sense: there should never be a trial. The selfless act to protect other passengers should be celebrated, and the accusers should be removed from their jobs.” he wrote to X.

The golfing great also thanked Penny for his military service on his social media, writing, “I agree. Daniel, for serving your country and protecting the many passengers whose lives were threatened by this violent and deranged individual. Thank you for that.”
