The suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is Luigi Nicolas Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate and ardent anti-capitalist, police and sources said.
Mangione, a Maryland native, was arrested Monday at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after a quick-thinking employee alerted authorities to his whereabouts, police said.
He was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Pennsylvania state court Monday night.
The suspect was found with a ghost gun, mask and writings linking him to last week's deadly ambush outside a midtown Manhattan hotel, sparking a massive multi-day manhunt.

Mangione was taken into custody around 9:15 a.m. after police received information that he was eating at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, police said.
An eagle-eyed employee at the fast food restaurant recognized him from a trove of images released by the New York Police Department in the wake of last Wednesday's shooting.
Mangione acted suspiciously when confronted by officers at the restaurant and presented a fake New Jersey ID with the name “Mark Rosario.” This is the same one the murder suspect used at a New York City hostel during his murder mission, officials and police said.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of a gun and a silencer, items “consistent with those used in the killing,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
He was also captured wearing a mask similar to that seen in chilling surveillance video of the killer before and after the murder, officials added.
