Los Angeles — Ray Romano was “devastated” early in his stand-up career, which caused him to quit.

Romano was accompanied by his family during the premiere of the Netflix series “No Good Deed.” He married his wife Anna in 1987. The couple has four children: daughter Alexandra, twin sons Matthew and Gregory, and son Joseph.

In November, Romano's twin sons, 31, released a documentary called “The Romano Twins.'' In the documentary, the Everybody Loves Raymond star talks about how he gave all of his children career advice and revealed that he gave up on his dreams not once but twice.

“He goes on little stand-up trips, he goes to little dives, he tries stand-up for the first time, and people aren't facing the stage. There's not even anyone there. And of course , it doesn't work out, and he takes it very personally,'' the star said of his youngest son, Joseph Romano.

Ray Romano may have had a 'Widowmaker' heart attack before undergoing heart surgery

“So I almost had to catch him and say, 'You don't understand. First of all, you can't do well in a place like that, and…on your first stage. We can't even get along. So, I understand that you're hurting, but you really have no right to be upset right now.”

“It takes a long time to get back up. All I said to him was, 'Don't be like that, because I was like that.' You know, you lost the first time, you lost the second time. I lost, but I was lucky enough to try a third time,” Romano said.

“I gave up twice. The first time I was defeated. I gave up, but the second time I was defeated again.”

Romano will co-star with “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow in the upcoming comedy-thriller series. Speaking to FOX News Digital at the premiere, Romano said the chemistry with Kudrow was instant.

“It was from the beginning. I had never met her. We were filming a TV show [‘Friends’ and ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’] Although we were two stages apart on the Warner Bros. lot, we had never met before. ”

“So, yeah, I was a little worried. She put me at ease right away, as I always have. I was, you know, a fan of hers. She was a fan of mine. “I'll take her,” Romano continued. “We bonded over family, over neuroses, over insecurities, and there was chemistry there. I mean, sometimes you're just so lucky, and sometimes it just happens. And this time it was easy.”

Romano explained that Kudrow was a fan of “Everyone Loves Raymond” and couldn't believe it at first. For seven years, Kudrow was unaware that the cast and crew of Romano's sitcom were filmed two stages apart.

“She said, 'Well, but I watch every episode,' and I thought she was just trying to make up for it. But then she gradually I started quoting episodes and lines, and I knew what she was saying, so it was kind of cool,” Romano explained.

“We were filming a show on the same property. He says I didn't know he was there…I didn't know, because we were just on our set. Because I was filming the show, I don't know. I just felt like if I could meet him, I would love him.”
