pittsburgh steelers Linebacker Elandon Roberts. Roberts fills a special role for this team, and one I believe every LB room in the NFL needs. It's a certified crash-out. A linebacker who is willing to run through the joker's face to get to the ball carrier. Roberts isn't the most impressive player against space or passing, but stepping into his gaps will definitely light up your ass like a Christmas tree.
He showed it to the fullest in the Steelers' win against the Steelers. cleveland browns. Roberts is a downhill threat, and Browns center Ethan Pocic found himself on the wrong side of it Sunday. The Browns are on a roll and Pocic is the second guy out of the gate. When the first player, left guard Joel Bitonio, blocks cornerback Joey Porter Jr., Pocic circles around and plans to attack the first player in black he sees.
But Roberts had other plans. Roberts decides to send Possick back to Cleveland by performing a dummy crash test directly through Possick's chest. This is real soccer. Enough of sliding blocks and running around them. No, man. Please try your best to resolve the issue.
Losing a yard on first down on this play, the Browns retreated behind the sticks, and Roberts' decision to slap Pocic's candy butt derailed the entire run-pass, giving his teammate a chance to help with the tackle. . My favorite part of this play is the fact that you can see Roberts charging his mental bomb, rocking back and forth like a psychopath, ready to take out the pain like Godzilla. Possic has left the earth! His feet were off the ground! It's a 320-pound man with his legs up in the air as if he were on a swing.
There's another play by Roberts that made me jump, and it kind of sums up what the Steelers are about. On 4th and 1, the Browns are going to run a quick little toss play to get this first down. They try to move RB Jerome Ford into the backfield and force out EDGE Alex Highsmith, but the guards circle around. This play is supposed to catch the defense off guard, expect a sneak, and score the first point through a toss. Roberts is having none of that and is hitting this hole with incredible speed. He makes tackles for loss and gives the Steelers the ball back, something Pittsburgh has excelled at this year.
Find plays within the margins of the defense and give the offense a chance to do something with the ball.
The Steelers defense faces arguably its biggest test of the season, a key matchup against the team. philadelphia eagles. Given how both offenses have played this season, I wouldn't be surprised if this game ended 18-12.
The Steelers' defense against the Eagles' ground game will be one of the coolest matchups to watch this season. I'm looking forward to going to Elandon Roberts and seeing if anyone learns from what happened with Possick and brings a helmet.
