President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Republican Kari Lake to head the U.S. government's Voice of America (VOA).
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said was praised Lake previously served as “Arizona's beloved newscaster,” she said. Trump added that Lake will work closely with the “next director” of the U.S. Agency for Global Media.
“I am pleased to announce that Kali Lake will be the next director of Voice of America,” President Trump wrote. “She will be appointed by the soon-to-be-announced next U.S. Global Media Agency Director and will work closely with them to ensure that American values of liberty and freedom are fairly and accurately broadcast around the world. President Trump added, “Kari is a beloved newscaster in Arizona who supported me by a record margin for more than 20 years.”
