Amazon to donate $1 million to Trump inauguration, matching Meta

E-commerce giant Amazon will donate $1 million to President-elect Trump's inauguration fund, matching the amount Meta has already donated to the president-elect's inauguration.

President Trump said Thursday during a visit to the New York Stock Exchange that he would meet with Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos next week.

Mr. Bezos joins a cadre of other technology executives seeking closer ties with Mr. Trump following his victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Despite the Washington Post's editorial board drafting an endorsement for Vice President Harris, the paper has no longer endorsed a candidate in the White House race following Bezos' decision to withdraw his endorsement from the paper. Not officially supported.

Bezos congratulated Trump on his 2024 presidential election victory on social media. They did not do the same in 2020 when President Biden won the election.

In late October, Trump met with leaders of Blue Origin, the aerospace company owned by Bezos. Trump met with CEO David Limp and Vice President of Government Relations Megan Mitchell while campaigning in Texas.

Amazon's donation plan comes after Meta donated $1 million to President Trump's inaugural fund, the company told The Hill. The contribution comes just weeks after CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The Hill has reached out to Amazon and the Trump transition team for comment.
