Record 3.5 Million Immigrants Awarded U.S. Citizenship

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have set new records for illegal and legal immigration in less than four years.

Analysis by Migration Policy Research Institute reveal From fiscal years 2021 to 2024, the Biden administration granted naturalized American citizenship to nearly 3.5 million legal immigrants.

This is “by far the most for a single presidential term,” MPI reported.

For comparison, the number of legal immigrants who became naturalized U.S. citizens under the Biden administration is higher than those who obtained citizenship under former presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. exceeds the total of

The only presidential administration that came close to Biden's record naturalization numbers was that of second-term President George W. Bush.

Much of the record naturalization rate can be attributed to the Biden administration's insistence on significantly reducing application waiting times.

“Processing times have improved over this period. [U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services] The median time it took to process 2024 naturalization applications was five months, down from 11.5 months at the start of Biden's term,” MPI reported.

Biden also oversaw the entry of 4.3 million legal immigrant green card holders over the past four years. Additionally, a record 1.1 million foreign students obtained student visas to attend American universities last year.

Extremely high legal immigration levels, with more than 1 million legal immigrants admitted each year, combined with record-breaking illegal immigration levels under the Biden administration, have swelled the U.S. foreign-born population to approximately 52 million people, the largest number in the U.S. It was the largest in history.
