President-elect Donald Trump weighed in on the continuing controversy surrounding mysterious drones reported over New Jersey, California and the Northeast.
The drone was estimated by some to be the size of an SUV, and one lawmaker warned that Iran may have launched it in collusion with China. Some claim it was just a normal airplane light, exaggerated by panicked witnesses.
“I don't think it's a normal off-the-shelf drone flying around here. From what we saw, it was a pretty good size, about the size of a small car or passenger car.”
“Mysterious drones have been seen all over the country. Is this really happening without our government's knowledge?” President Trump's Social Truth. “I don't think so! Tell the world now or shoot it down!!!”
On Thursday, the FBI released a joint statement. statement The Department of Homeland Security maintained there was no evidence of a national security or public threat.
“The FBI, DHS, and our federal partners are working closely with the New Jersey State Police to investigate this situation and determine whether the reported drone flight was actually a drone, a manned aircraft, or any other inaccurate sightings.” “We continue to deploy personnel and technology to ensure that this is the case,” the statement said.
Officials went on to say the sightings were not corroborated by “electronic detection” and said they appeared to be “legally operating manned aircraft.”
Similar drones were also reported over Southern California and Temecula, Maryland.
“We saw two of them fly directly into our backyard in south Temecula, and we could see the flock on the horizon,” said Brian Dirks. To KTTV. “I don't think it's a normal off-the-shelf drone flying around here. From what we saw, it was a pretty good size, about the size of a small car or a car. .”
