Belichick's appearance at Saturday's UNC basketball game marked his second public appearance with the school.
On Thursday, Belichick was formally introduced for the first time in his first formal press conference with UNC, where he called his new role a “dream come true.”
When Belichick was a toddler, his father, Steve, was an assistant on the UNC staff from 1953 to 1955.
Belichick also said he plans to run a professional-style program at UNC.
Details regarding Belichick's contract with UNC were announced Thursday.
Belichick will receive a base salary of $1 million and $9 million in extra income. This contract is guaranteed for the first three years, but no longer guaranteed in the fourth and fifth years.
The contract also gave Belichick performance-based incentives.
For example, if he led the Tar Heels to eight wins in a season, he would receive an additional $150,000, and for each additional win after that, he would receive an additional $50,000.
It was also reported on Saturday that Belichick approached him about a coaching job with the New York Jets shortly before leaving for UNC.
