NY pol issues challenge to White House over ‘unsettling’ drone mystery: ‘Completely unacceptable

It's about time someone did something about drones.

An elected official in upstate New York wants the Federal Aviation Administration and FBI to come up with answers to the drone mystery looming over parts of New Jersey and the Empire State, and will file a complaint with the White House. He even wrote a letter.

“The fact that this issue has continued for weeks without a clear answer is completely unacceptable, not only to the people of Rockland County, but to communities across the country,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. he said in a scathing statement.

“It's time for the federal government to step up, take responsibility and provide the answers we all deserve,” he said. Statement issued on Friday. “We understand that these drone sightings can be disturbing and we take these reports seriously.”

Mr Day said four more drones were seen over the county on Thursday, flying into Jersey. Rockland borders the Garden State to the south.

Mysterious drones have puzzled and worried local residents since mid-November, when the FAA began receiving reports of high-flying aircraft. Drones sometimes interfered with Medivac helicopters.

One expert told FOX Business that drones could even be launched by hostile foreign powers to distract federal and local authorities from more heinous activities.

The Biden administration has largely dismissed those concerns, saying the federal government has not confirmed any of the more than 3,000 reports of car-sized drones in the skies.

But Day said he has written a letter to President Joe Biden asking him to reconsider and have the FAA and FBI “investigate and provide answers to who is behind the drone sightings.”

Meanwhile, Rockland Police are reminding county residents to keep an eye on the skies.

“We are asking all county residents to say something if they see something,” Rockland County Sheriff Luis Falco said in a statement. “Once a 911 call is received, local jurisdiction and sheriff's office personnel are dispatched to investigate and everything is documented and reported to federal authorities.”
