Washington Spirit and USWNT star Trinity Rodman hasn't been shy about talking about her strained relationship with her father, five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman.
Trinity made a guest appearance in the latest film. Podcast “Call Daddy” – Titled “The Truth About My Family,” it revealed her difficult upbringing as Rodman's party lifestyle with “Random Beads” was not a suitable environment for her to live in.
“There was a road trip and I lived on it for a little bit,” Trinity told host Alex Cooper. “We tried to move in with him, but he parties 24/7 and brings random girlfriends. He loves the spotlight. He loves the camera. ”
Rodman was known for his wild partying lifestyle, including a whirlwind marriage to model Carmen Electra that lasted only a few months at the Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas. .
Trinity's mother is Michelle Moyer, Rodman's third wife. Moyer filed for divorce in 2004, and the divorce was officially finalized in 2012.
The former Bulls great has two other children.
Trinity went on to recall the emotional moment she and Rodman shared when Rodman surprised her with a win for the Spirit during an NWSL playoff game in November 2021.
The USWNT forward explained that it wasn't the happy reunion that people thought.
“I'm crying. No one knows what's going on. I was like, 'Daddy's here,'” Trinity recalled, adding that she hadn't spoken to her father for months at the time. He added that he had not. “Then I walked up and there were cameras everywhere again and he grabbed my head and I started screaming in his arms like we were daddy and daughter.
“I've lost hope of getting him back, so I'm answering the phone now just to make my conscience say, 'He needed to hear my voice,' before anything happens. That's why I'm on the phone.” It's not for me. He's probably not my father, just by blood.”
Trinity explained that she did not speak in detail about her father because she wanted to protect his image, but admitted that pent-up anger made it difficult for her to remain silent.
“We don't want to give him a bad impression, and that requires a lot of patience,” she said. “The anger that I couldn’t let out was probably just as painful for me.”
