Detroit Lions manager Dan Campbell was thoroughly disgusted after his team's 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. On Tuesday, the coach jumped into the loss with an F-bomb-filled interview to show his regret.
Appearing on Detroit radio station 97.1 The Ticket, Campbell told hosts Costa and Jansen that he was fired up about the criticism his team received after losing for the first time in 11 games.
“You know what happens? You know, when you win 11 in a row and lose, the sky falls,” Campbell exploded.
“I hate to say it, but we're not going to win 11 games in a row again for the rest of the season. We're not going to be able to do that,” he said.
“What happens is, I tell all of us, that you get used to eating filet mignon, and everything goes well and life goes well. But what happens when you don't have anything? I forgot about it and ate the bread, and it was all fine and I was given everything I needed.”
“Sometimes when you get punched in the mouth, you have to remember what it's like to be really grateful for where you are. And we'll do it.”
He said everyone in Detroit is tired of losing, but thinks everyone needs to sound the alarm.
“I'd be damned if we had to win every game by one point for the rest of the year. That's what we're going to do and I'm going to be happy with it.”
“Are you going to give up 700 yards and win by one point?” I'm smiling from ear to ear, you know what I mean? I can promise you that. So we're going to find a way and get it done. ”
