Netflix’s Transgender Drug-Lord Drama ‘Emilia Pérez’ One Step Closer to Oscar Nomination

The music for Selena Gomez's ballad “Mi Camino,” Will Ferrell and Harper Steele's road trip documentary “Will & Harper,” and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's uplifting “Challengers” won Oscars. One step closer to being nominated. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday announced the finalists in 10 categories, including documentary, international feature film, best song and best score.

2 musicals, “Emilia Perez” and “Wicked” were often included in this category. Some films aren't necessarily the most obvious Oscar nominees, as most of the shortlist is in the lower categories that celebrate craft. “Deadpool & Wolverine” ” was nominated for both sound and visual effects, and “Alien: Romulus” was also nominated for score.

“Dune: Part Two” included visual effects, sound, makeup, and hair that were not among the 20 finalists for the score. Hans Zimmer's work was excluded because there was too much existing music from the original Dune.
