FIFA and Infantino want to raise the price of broadcast contracts to finance increased prize money and close the gender pay gap at the Men's World Cup.
The 2022 Qatar Men's World Cup saw 32 federations share the $440 million prize pool. In preparation for the 2023 women's tournament, FIFA had set aside a total of $152 million in funds for prize money, contributions to team preparation costs and payments to player clubs.
The next Women's World Cup will be held in Brazil in 2027, with 32 teams and 64 matches, from June 24 to July 25.
The venue for 2031 has not yet been decided, but the United States is expected to bid for the tournament, and FIFA is believed to be looking to expand the number of participating teams to 48.
