What is happening now?: House Republicans are currently meeting (12:30 p.m.) to discuss the new plan.

Latest plans with reporting from Emily Brooks and Michael Schnell: Republicans plan to break up elements of the government's funding plan into separate, independent votes.A la carte voting includes:

• Vote to fund the government at current levels
• Vote on disaster relief
• Vote to give economic aid to farmers

What is particularly missing from this plan?: A vote to raise the debt ceiling will not be included, sources told The Hill. (Incidentally, President Trump wanted it included.) The plan also does not include most of the proposals added to the bipartisan plan negotiated earlier this week.

What caused this to happen?: Mr. Musk was instrumental in blocking negotiations on a bipartisan government funding bill that collapsed earlier this week. He posted multiple social media posts urging Republicans to vote against the measure. Trump later joined Musk's opposition. Within 20 hours the bill collapsed.

Did Republicans approve of swiping? : President Trump transition spokesperson caroline leavittshared a statement with The Hill, calling Trump “the leader of the Republican Party.” Full stop. ”

He spread a lot of misinformation in some of his social media posts. for example:

• Musk claimed the plan includes a “40% pay increase” for Congress. That's not true. This will be an increase of approximately 3.8%.

• Musk argued that the bill would block any investigation before a House committee on January 6th. That's not true either.

• Mr. Musk claimed to fund a bioweapons lab. The bill includes funding for biocontainment labs, not bioweapons labs.

• Musk reposted his claim that the bill would fund construction of a new D.C. football stadium. That's not true. This bill just transfers control of the site to local governments in Washington, D.C. No funding was provided.

From Congressman Rich McCormick (R-Ga.): “This is a leadership challenge where Mike Johnson has to define himself. Are we going to get the right input from the right people to pass this bill?” he asked on CNN. . “Because, frankly, you can't do it in a vacuum. And it doesn't matter, because, frankly, you can't do it in a vacuum. Last I checked, Elon Musk doesn't have a vote in Congress.”
